Richard Mourdock Resigns as State Treasurer

Our State Treasurer, Richard Mourdock, who was embarrassed our state with his rape comments, tried to put thousands of auto workers out of jobs with his frivolous lawsuit, and defeated one of the most respected members of the U.S. Senate for not being far enough to the right, has resigned from office. Not for any of these reasons, but for his financial benefit. He is resigning from a job the voters of Indiana entrusted him to serve for four years so he can boost his pension. Of the Republican state officials elected in 2010, none of them currently still hold their offices. This is no way to treat the voters of our state. We should elect Beth White for Secretary of State, Mike Claytor for State Auditor and Mike Boland for State Treasurer in November!

But, its not like their aren't other Republican officials across the country to up and quit their jobs.... Maybe a former Alaska Governor named Sarah Palin.

Richard Mourdock's 2012 quote

Change in Dates for Palmyra Meet Your Democratic Candidates

Due to scheduling conflicts, we had to reschedule the Meet Your Democratic Candidates event in Palmyra this Tuesday. The new date will be October 14 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Please spread the word and sorry for any confusion.

Dennis Byrd for Judge Facebook Page

Dennis Byrd, who is running for Superior Court Judge has a new facebook page. It has a lot of good information on Dennis and his campaign. He is the only candidate in the race that has the qualifications and experience necessary to be a good Judge. Elections are a choice and we will be sharing information as the campaign continues to show why Dennis Byrd is the right choice to be our Judge. Dennis is the "Harrison County" candidate in the race. He has served his community his whole life, paid property taxes here, and didn't have to rent an apartment to be able to sign up to run for office like his opponent. He is the right choice!

Visit Dennis' facebook page today. Like his page and share it with friends!

Heidi Sellers Endorsed by Indiana Teachers

Indiana Teachers have spoken. They back pro-public education candidate Heidi Sellers over far right Rhonda Rhoads, whose agenda has been very anti-public education, and very anti-teacher.

Heidi Sellers Needs Your Help this Saturday in Corydon!

Heidi Sellers and Harrison County Democrats need your help this Saturday. The World on the Square Festival is going on around the square in downtown Corydon. Heidi wants to bake and pass out cookies to the crowd from her and the Democrats. This is also a great festival for Harrison County. You can visit their website at http://www.worldonthesquare.org/. It is brought to us by the local group Community Unity, which was started after the Ku Klux Klan came to Corydon in 1999, to show that our community does not tolerate this type of bigotry and hate. We at the Harrison County Democratic Party stand squarely against hate groups like this, and hope everyone in our county feels welcome.

We will have a table in front of our headquarters on North Capitol Avenue from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. If you are interested in helping, you can contact Heidi at (502) 664-9409. Thanks in advance for your help!

Next Democratic Party Meeting- Tuesday, August 12

The next meeting of the Harrison County Democratic Party will be on Tuesday, August 12, at 7:00 PM at the Harrison County Government Center. Please note that this is a change in the regular meeting time because we need to finalize plans for the J-J Dinner, to be held on Saturday, August 16 at Lanesville High School. That will be the major topic of discussion, along with upcoming plans for the election and the Lanesville Heritage Weekend, as well as any other events between then and mid-September.

Please join us to help us work to take back our county from the radical Tea Party Republicans with common sense Democrats.
